Rescheduling the Date of the UGC – NET June 2024 Examination
The NTA has been entrusted by the University Grants Commission (UGC) with the task of conducting UGC-NET, which is a test to determine the eligibility of Indian nationals for ‘award of Junior Research Fellowship and appointment as Assistant Professor’, ‘appointment as Assistant Professor and admission to Ph.D.’ and ‘admission to Ph.D. only’ in Indian universities and colleges. The National Testing Agency (NTA) will conduct UGC – NET June 2024 for 83 subjects in OMR (Pen and Paper), mode. The National Testing Agency (NTA) is in receipt of various representation from the candidates to extend the date of Examination for UGC – NET June 2024 due to UPSC CSE (Prelims) Examination – 2024 on the same date, i.e. 16 June 2024. In the interest of aspirants, the National Testing Agency has postponed the Exam date of UGC – NET June 2024, as per details mentioned below:

PSG College of Arts and Science admissions are merit-based, except for MSW and MA courses, which require an entrance exam. Students must register online via PSGCAS portal.

Tamil Nadu State Eligibility Test (TNSET) is a state-level examination held in Tamil Nadu. The Government of Tamil Nadu vide its G.O.(D) No.262 dated 02 -09-2023 has nominated Manonmaniam Sundaranar University as “Nodal Agency” to conduct State Eligibility Test (SET) from the academic year 2023-2024 on behalf of the Goverment of Tamil Nadu. UGC vide its letter No.F.7-7/2015(NET/SET) dated 20-09-2023 has updated its official record that Manonmaniam Sundaranar University is the “Nodal Agency”.
It may further be specifically understood that such a candidate who qualifies the SET would be held eligible for being appointed as Assistant Professor in Universities / Colleges, provided he/she fulfills other academic qualifications prescribed for Assistant Professor post by the U.G.C. and is selected by the respective Selection Committee. Unlike the NET/UGC-CSIR Combined Test the candidates who qualify the SET are eligible for being selected only as Assistant Professor and not for the award of Junior Research Fellowship (JRF). As per UGC guidelines, after June 2002, SET qualified candidates shall be eligible to apply for the post of Assistant Professor only in the Universities/Colleges belonging to the same state whose SET Examination they have cleared.

Declaration of Result on Manonmaniam Sundaranar University website
i. All the candidates who have secured at least 55% marks (without rounding off) in Master’s Degree or equivalent examination from universities/institutions recognized by UGC (available on the website: www.ugc.ac.in ) are eligible for this Test. The Scheduled Caste(SC) / SC(A) /Scheduled Tribe (ST) /Persons with Disability (PwD)/Third gender category candidates who have secured at least 50% marks (without rounding off) in Master’s degree or equivalent examination are eligible for this Test.
ii. Candidates who are pursuing their Master’s degree or equivalent course or candidates who have appeared for their qualifying Master’s degree (final year) examination and whose result is still awaited or candidates whose qualifying examinations have been delayed may also apply for this test. However, such candidates will be admitted provisionally and shall be considered eligible for eligibility for Assistant Professor only after they have passed their Master’s Degree or equivalent examination with at least 55% marks (50% marks in case of SC / SC(A) /ST/ PwD / Third gender category candidates). Such candidates must complete their Master’s degree or equivalent examination within two years from the date of TNSET result with required percentage of marks, failing which they shall be treated as ineligible.
iii. The Ph.D degree holders whose Master’s Level examination has been completed by 19 September 1991 (irrespective of date of declaration of result) shall be eligible for a relaxation of 5% in aggregate marks (i.e. from 55% to 50%) for appearing in TNSET.
iv. Candidates are advised to appear in the subject of their Post -Graduation only. The candidates, whose Post Graduation subject is not covered in the list of TNSET subjects may appear in the UGC-NET/joint CSIR-UGC Test.
v. Candidates with post-graduate diploma/certificate awarded by Indian University/Institute or foreign degree /diploma/certificate awarded by the foreign University/institute should in their own interest, ascertain the equivalence of their diploma/degree/certificate with Master’s degree of recognized Indian universities from Association of Indian Universities (AIU), New Delhi(ww.aiu.ac.in)
vi. There is no upper age limit in applying for TNSET.

Pattern of Examination
The TNSET would be conducted in the pattern of UGC-NET. Accordingly, the test will consist of two papers as in UGC-NET.
The test will consist of two papers, Paper I and Paper II. Paper I will be common to all the candidates, while Paper II will be based on the PG subject chosen by the candidates (as given in the TNSET list of subjects) . Both the papers are only of objective type and multiple choice questions (MCQ) in Computer Based Test (CBT) mode. There will be no break between the papers.

Paper I tests to assess the general knowledge, teaching capabilities, research aptitude, reasoning ability, reading comprehension, higher education system, people and development, environment, mathematical aptitude, divergent thinking and general awareness of the Candidate.

Syllabus for TNSET will be the same as in UGC-NET/CSIR-NET. Manonmaniam Sundaranar University Tirunelveli will not send the syllabi to the candidates individually.
The medium of Question Paper shall be in English only except Paper II of language subjects (Tamil, Arabic, Hindi, Malayalam, Sanskrit, Telugu and Urdu).
There is no negative mark for incorrect answers.
